Every Community has Spare Capacity

Let’s figure out how to use all of it!

Homelessness, food insecurity, inflation, rising housing costs – these are just a few of the concepts that have been spiraling out of control in the aftermath of Covid.   While there are many nonprofits and government agencies trying to deal with these mounting issues, it is obvious that more needs to be done, as these issues take on a life of their own.

Do you remember studying about barn raisings in history class in grade school?  Well, a barn raising was a collective action of a community in the 18th and 19th centuries when one of its members needed a barn built.  A barn was a large and costly structure, the assembly of which required more labor than a typical family could provide. Barn raising addressed the need by enlisting members of the community, in an unpaid capacity, to assist in the building of their neighbors’ barns. Because each member could ask others for help, reciprocation could eventually reasonably be presumed for each participant, so they were happy to support the concept.

We need to ‘reawaken’ communities to create a cohesive safety net for residents.  How do we do this?  We want to bring all the stakeholders to the table and create Community AI Hubs as a way to utilize all spare capacity within a community.  Please go to our Programs page for a full explanation of how this will work!
